Introduction:

 

This document has been developed by Pit River Tribe Native American against Violence (NAVIGATE) Program.

Welcome, to Pit River Tribe Native American Against Violence (NAVIGATE) Program.

 

The mission of Pit River Tribe (NAVIGATE) program is to create a tribal community which is safe, responsive, and supportive of domestic abuse and sexual assault victims and their children and fosters individual dignity, respect, hope, and self-determination..

 

History:

 

The Pit River Tribe since time immemorial have resided in a remote rural area stretching across 100 square mile in parts of Shasta, Siskiyou, Modoc, and Lassen counties.  The area includes XL Ranch Reservation and (5) Five Rancheria’s, Montgomery Creek, Roaring Creek, Big Bend, Lookout and Likely, and 79 acres in Burney California.  The highest concentrations of tribal members live near the cities of Alturas and Burney California. 

 

 

CLIENT DEFINITION AND STATUS WITHIN NAVIGATE

 

2.1          PRT NAVIGATE has made an agreement with the United States Department of Justice/Office on Violence against Woman that it will only provide services to Native Pit River Tribal members that are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking.  Victim Classification

 

2.2      Victims/Clients of PRT NAVIGATE  are classified as:

 

a)      PRT Tribal Member adult/youth who is a victim of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking.

 

 

 

b)      Indian Girl youth or older/ Woman who is a victim of a violent crime.

 

 

 

c)      Indian Girl youth or older/ Woman who is a victim of domestic violence or sexual assault, or stalking.

 

 

 

2.3          In addition to the above PRT NAVIGATE can only assist if funds are available and on a most needy basis.

 

 

PRT NAVIGATE: Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing

 

 

 

a)      Application needs to be filled out as complete as possible. PRT NAVIGATE will only provide services to victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual violence, or stalking.

 

 

 

b)      PRT NAVIGATE Program can only provide services to victims who are homeless, or in need of transitional housing or other housing assistance, as a result of fleeing a situation of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking.

 

 

 

 

 

c)      PRT NAVIGATION Program is prohibited from paying delinquent debt:

 

 

 

d)     Name and address with contact phone number

 

 

 

 

 

e)      Tribal Affiliation (Must be documented)

 

 

 

f)       Identify what kind of assistance you are requesting or needed.


 

a)       PRT NAVIGATION Program is prohibited from paying delinquent debt:  The PRT NAVIGATE Program has agreed not to use grant funds to pay for back rent, other delinquent debts, or criminal or civil fines or judgments that a victim of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking may have incurred.

 

b)       Name and address with contact phone number

d)       Identify what kind of assistance you are requesting or needed.

 

e)       Checklist of items needed for application needs to be completed.

 

·         Complete Application

 

·         Enrollment Card/letter of membership from Federally Recognized Native American Tribe

 

·         State or Government issued Photo I.D. of adults 18 years and older

 

·         Copy of Social Security Cards for all family members

 

·         Income Verification for anyone over 18 or over who is employed in household (must include all resources of income in household)

 

·         Copies of rental agreements, leases, or payment arrangements or intents to rent.

 

·         Unemployment statement for anyone 18 or over, who is not employed

 

·         Income verification from any agency from all in the household

 

·         Court Papers on Restraining orders or police reports on incidents of crime/abuse/ or violence on client.

 

Victim/Survivor Information will be kept confidential at all times
