Mission
Our mission is to protect the best interests of Native children and to promote the stability and security of Native families by ensuring the Tribe’s rights and ICWA protections are upheld in child custody proceedings.
We work with families, courts, counties, and service providers to keep children connected to their family, culture, and community whenever possible.
What Our ICWA Team Does
We support Native children and families by:
- Responding to notices from courts and county agencies
- Coordinating with families and helping them understand the process
- Participating in court and case planning to advocate for ICWA compliance
- Connecting families to resources (services, transportation, visitation support, cultural programs where available)
- Working with agencies on placement preferences and family finding
