Welcome to the official home of the Pit River Tribe
The Pit River Tribe is a Tribe comprised of eleven (11) autonomous bands: Ajumawi, Atsugewi, Atwamsini, Ilmawi, Astarawi, Hammawi, Hewisedawi, Itsatawi, Aporige, Kosalektawi, and Madesi, that since time immemorial have resided in the area known as the 100-mile square, located in parts of Shasta, Siskiyou, Modoc, and Lassen Counties in the State of California.

The Pit River Tribe is seeking interested Tribal members to participate in the Land Use Working Group, a 5-member advisory group that will play an important role in the Tribe’s two-year comprehensive Land Use Assessment. This effort is led by a Consultant and the Tribal Planner and is funded through the California Jobs First grant to support long-term land use planning and economic development initiatives for the Tribe.
Ideal candidates will have experience or knowledge in any of the following areas:
- Land use planning
- Engineering
- Economic development
- Tourism
- Natural resources
- Community development
- Or other relevant fields
Commitment & Stipend:
Selected members will participate in up to 12 meetings over two years, which may include in-person site visits. Members will receive a stipend for their time.
Requirements:
Participants must be able to engage objectively and disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may impact decision-making or recommendations.
