Tribal Ecosystem Restoration Workforce Training and Employment Program
The Pit River Tribe in partnership with California Trout and Lomakatsi Restoration Project will facilitate an ecosystem restoration
workforce training and employment program during fall of 2014. On behalf of this partnership, Lomakatsi Restoration
Project will be accepting applications from qualified Pit River Tribal members to conduct stream restoration projects in
the Wild Trout area of Hat Creek. Project activities will focus on restoring the ecological function of the Wild Trout Area riparian
(streamside) corridor in an effort to protect wild trout populations and the unique cultural and recreational attributes
that define Hat Creek as one of California’s most important cold-water spring-fed natural resources.
Position: Ecosystem Restoration Crew Manager (1 position available)
Description: Under the mentorship of Lomakatsi specialists, the Pit River Tribal Workforce Manager will provide tribal
crew leadership for labor intensive, on-the-ground, restoration project implementation. General forestry labor and restoration
activities including trail work, erosion control, tree and shrub planting/maintenance, and noxious weed abatement.
Qualifications:
 Must be at least 18 years old and Pit River Tribal Member
 Previous experience working on and managing labor crews required, including basic writing/documentation skills (ex:
Filling out daily logs, inspection sheets, timecards)
 Field experience in trail work, forestry (chainsaw operation), Wildland
